June 3, 2019: Nova Scotia conducted a draw under its NSNP Labour Market Priorities stream linked with Express Entry.

312 Letters of Interest (LOI) were issued to Express Entry candidates who have work experience in NOC 4214, Early childhood educators and assistants (ECEs)

There are also other criteria that need to be fulfilled and these are as follows:

  • Proof that a candidate has received post-secondary education in early childhood education for children aged 0 to 8 years;
  • Proof that the candidate has completed a program of two or more years at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute and;
  • Letters of reference from employers to demonstrate proof of a minimum of five years of work experience in NOC 4214.

The NSNP said those selected on June 3 submitted their Express Entry profile on or after August 8, 2018.

Province of Nova Scotia invited the express entry candidates who have applied for provincial nomination via Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NS PNP) with eligible work experience as Early childhood educators and assistants in the draw held on June 3rd.

These candidates were invited by issuing invitations by Labour Market Priorities Stream. This stream of NS PNP allows the province to search for the candidates with the required work experience in an occupation that has a shortage in the local labor market of the province in the express pool of the federal government’s express entry program.

Nova Scotia’s provincial nominee program – NSNP allows the province to nominate immigrants for Canada permanent resident status each year via its eight streams that are tailored to specific economic needs in the province.

Express entry program is a point-based program that manages the profiles of immigrants who have applied under Canada’s three skilled immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Express entry candidate with a Provincial nomination is awarded 600 CRS points which makes sure that the candidate is able to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) via which they are able to apply for Canada PR visa to the Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Being in the express pool is the very first step that allows the candidate to be considered for a provincial nomination through NSNP’s Labour Market Priorities Stream.

The latest draw held on June 3, was the second via the Labour Market Priorities Stream to target express entry candidates that have work experience as NOC 4214 – Early childhood educators and assistants.

Labour Market Priorities Stream has been used by NS PNP a total of four times since its creation in August 2018. Two times it targeted the candidate’s with work experience as early childhood educators and other two times, it was used to target Financial auditors and accountants and express entry candidates who have listed French as their first official language.
